⚠️ Don't rely on cloud storage as your sole #backup location for your important personal and #business data! Here are some things that can go wrong: 1️⃣ ToS Violations: If your cloud storage is tied to a user account on a major provider, and your account is banned for an unintentional terms of service breach, you lose everything you had stored on it. 2️⃣ Incomplete Syncs: Connectivity or software issues can sometimes lead to only partial backups, leaving you without crucial files (Even though you might think everything has backed up successfully, you might get a nasty surprise later). 3️⃣ Platform Changes: Remember when OneDrive altered its functionality, causing local files on #MacOS to be deleted? Such changes can be devastating if unprepared. Always diversify your backup strategy and keep your own backups that are 100% under your control. ☁️ isn't enough! 🦜 And now your regular backup reminder. This weeks #BackupBudgie #BirdOfTheWeek is a multi award winner, on account of his sweet hat.

External disk drives are a popular backup option, but what happens if they are defective? It's an unfortunately common problem, and users usually have no recourse: https://lnkd.in/g646F9P9 Ensure you're making regular backups to multiple devices from different manufacturers. That way, if there's a common product defect, you'll have a copy that isn't affected. A copy in the cloud ☁️ can't hurt either! #content creators and #developers can't afford to lose their work. BackupBudgie reminds you to back up your important work with a weekly feathered reminder, and tips about best practices. 🏅 With the lecture out of the way, let's wrap things up with this week's #birdoftheweek:

Don't think it won't happen to you. I’m meant to be the careful one, and yet I just nearly just rm -rf'd a bunch of stuff with a bad copy and paste of a terminal command. As a #freelancer, this could have made some of my clients quite mad.   🔌 Keep an offline #backup so that if you do the same, you can quickly recover your work and not let your delivery dates slip while you redo things.   🦜 Here's our bird of the week winner, displaying the same face I made at my reflection in the screen after narrowly averting a data loss disaster.

Disastrous data loss can happen any number of ways - fire, theft, someone accidentally draining a swimming pool into your server room... 🏊 🗺️ That's why you should keep multiple backups in different locations. Take regular backups to different devices, and rotate them out, so you always have a recent backup stored off-site, just in case lightning strikes. An extra backup in the cloud for good measure is also recommended, in case lightning happens to strike twice. 🌩️ #content creators and #developers can't afford to lose their work. #backupbudgie #birdoftheweek reminds you to back up your valuable stuff each week with #backup #tips and data best practices. 🏅 Now, on to this week's award winner:
